I’ve been working on expanding my range of services lately to better serve my clients and one of the ways I’m doing that is becoming a Web Hosting Services provider. What does that mean?
Well, to me it means I have greater flexibility on what I am able to offer my web design clients, while I’m building their site and afterwards. I have more control over what the client is able to view as I develop their site and make changes, which is great for feedback and communication, which is better for both of us.
For me, it also means I get to take more of a look under the hood than I ever thought I would and learn more about what to put in place to best serve the client after the actual site is done. I’m trying to be as thoughtful as possible about their needs, what’s reasonable and what’s over-kill. Sadly, I think there are definitely those out there who are not averse to taking advantage of people with little or no technical knowledge. Just because someone doesn’t know what to ask for – doesn’t mean you can sell them something padded and expensive. Maybe they’ll make some money in the short term, but really – it’s just wrong. Me, I don’t like to mess with karma!
I’m actually looking forward to maintaining a relationship with my web-clients even after the site is done and helping them along the way and it’s good business for both of us.
